"My grandfather was named Fordeas Farnum, or so he persisted in spelling it. He was a plasterer by trade and a hard working man, much respected though poor. He came to Rochester, NY and died there when in his 60th year. His wife was a MacDonald and their children that I know of, were Bela, Thomas, Wealthy, Maria, Ann and Harriet. The latter, I visited at Rising Sun, Iowa in 1866. She had 3 children with her then grown." (Who wrote this letter?) . 1850 check Jo Daviess Co. 1880 Census: Warsaw, Hancock, Illinois (age 74) Maria W. Taylor, divorced - two unmarried sons, Bates & Huron living here also 1886 City directory for Warsaw, Hancock Co - Mrs. Taylor res. Third and Polk. . LAND: Hancock Co, Illinois, Bk. 109 pg.360 - Deed and last will of Maria W. Taylor concerning lots 5&6 Block 12. According to Linda Besendorfer, no divorce record has been found, in fact a land record dated 9 July 1883, Bk.110 pg. 508 has grantor Richard J. Taylor and Mariah W. Taylor. . Maria is often shown as Mariah but she signed it without the 'H'. . Linda Besendorfer lost her husband in 2008.
