!From "Mayflower Families...": "Richard was taxed in No. Kingstown, R.I. (Rochester, R.I.) by the Andros decree Sept. 1687 with his father and brother Francis Wast (West) sen. and jun. Francis jun, his brother, in his will used the surname Wast but his children in RI records changed to Weast or West. Richard and his son Charles, however, continued to use Wast or Waste in public records, but wife and widow Elizabeth and others of this family also appear as West. He was one of the founders of the Congregational Church in Lakeville 12 Oct 1725. On 29 Nov 1715 the selectmen of Middleboro exchanged lot No. 16 in Plympton for lot 27 lying in Middleboro then owned by Richard Waste. This was acknowledged 20 June 1725 by Richard with no wife concurrence." (This account said no record has been found for the distribution of this property but there is a deed in Plymouth County Deeds [FHL 558818] indexed by the name Richard Waite [V.15 pg 139] which concerns the same property.) "On 19 June 1719 Richard Waste of Taunton, Miller, 'for 50 pds given to my son Charles by one of his relations' gave after his death to son Charles lots 57, 58 in Middleboro for which he paid Ichabod Southworth 90 pounds on 6 May 1719. These lots were sold by Charles Wast of Middleboro in 1742. We have not found the bequest of 50 pounds. Richard d, intestate and his widow, Elizabeth Wast was appointed 1 April 1728 administratrix of his personal estate." References given were: "MD 26:37, 34:14; Bristol Co.
