Betty, It appears that you should study the children and grandchildren of "Pieter Ceilo" carefully. "Ceilo" is undoubtedly the way the minister recorded the name "Zeliff/Zeloff" which was foreign to Dutch ears :-). Everything would hook up very nicely if Peter Ceilo and Blandina Van Pelt had named a son "David" My guess would be that the family tradition contains a solid grain of truth and that "David Zeliff m. _______ Ward" may turn out to be a grandson of Peter and Blandina. Then the trail back would look like this:
Domine Everardus Bogardus m. Anneke Jans Willem Bogardus m 2) Walburga De Sille Saartje Bogardus m. Peter Van Pelt Blandina Van Pelt m. Pieter "Ceilo" [Zeloff/Zeliff] SON Zeliff m. ? David Zeliff m. _________ Ward Mary ("Polly") Zeliff m. Calvin Sayre
Folk memory has a way of telescoping generations, but this looks mighty close to the family's tradional belief! Dorothy

All that I have comes from how various family members remember it and /or how they wrote it down! I was wondering if anyone has anything about this family or could point me in the direction of a source to confirm or dispute the facts below?
Calvin Sayre, b. 15 Sep 1782 in New York, died, in the War of 1812. Calvin is the son of William Sayre and Sarah Young. He married Mary (Polly)Zeliff on 25 Jan 1804. She was christened as an adult on 27 Mar 1814. She is the daughter of David Zeliff and unknown Ward. Her mother was a cousin of Marcus L. Ward, Gov. of NJ during the Civil War. Her father was four generations removed from Anneke Jans, whose daughter is supposed to have married the first David Zeliff.(remember- this is all from a long dead family member!)
Their children:(the ones who survied to adulthood) 1. Lydia (married Henry Hammond) 2. Abbie 3. Matilda Coyle(married Peter McChesney)
  Thanks, Betty
