a. Note:   Witnesses at Walter's christening were John Henderson and John Murdoch, both of Murdockstown. Walter came via Washington Co., NY to Bovina, Delaware Co., NY by 1809. IN 1820 Walter Doag he lived in Bovina with wife, 3 sons, and 3 daughters. In 1830 he lived in Bovina with wife, 2 sons, and 2 daughters.
  From an unsent and undated letter from Robert Winget: "I saw Walter Doig going up to Dulhigh [Delhi], and I hear that he is on a farm. I saw James Doig going up since, the other James Doig, David's son. They told me going to take the land, but I have heard nothing of them since. They all well ther in May. Walter Maxwell and his family is well. John Fergusion and that family." (The Wingate-Winget family in America, by Esther M. Winget Warner, 1931) The letter also notes a brother Andrew Winget.
  Note in The History of Delaware County, W.W. MUNSELL 1797-1880: Obituary in 1849 of John Dunn, husband of Walter's daughter Elizabeth: "Mr. Dunn had another evidence of the Lord's kindness to him, in finding a helpmeet for him in the person of Miss Elizabeth Doig, daughter of Mr. Walter Doig, a man of intelligence, piety and perseverance, one of the first settlers, who endured many hardships, and one of the first elders who was the means of bringing the gospel to that place, the happy consequences of whose labours in the defence of the cause of truth are felt in the Congregation to this day."
