Note: ROUGEMONT - Carl Glenn Ferrell, Sr., 80, of 910 Harris Mill Road, Rougemont, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 4, 2008. Glenn was a native of Durham County and was a paint and wallpaper contractor for approximately sixty years. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. He attained the rank of Carpenter's Mate 3rd Class with the C.B.'s. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal. He also served at hut manager for American Legion Post #7 in Durham for several years in the 1970's. Glenn is survived by six children, Teresa Ferrell Shearer (Leon) of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Glenda Ferrell Johnson of Framingham, Mass., Carl Glenn Ferrell II (Betty Lou) of Walhalla, S.C., Michael David Ferrell (Brenda) of Franklinton, Timothy Mark Ferrell (Louise) of Pineville, Jane Ferrell Tippett (Brad) of the home; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Jesse Albert and Grace Parrish Ferrell; his loving wife of nearly fifty seven years, Frances Harris Ferrell; two grandchildren, Jessica Leigh Tipppett and Kerry David Ferrell; and one great grandson, Hayden Bradley Clews. A memorial service will be held at Brooks and White Funeral Home in Roxboro on Wednesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be at Brooks and White Funeral Home one hour prior to the memorial service and there is open visitation at the home.
