Note: Through tradition, the first Horan ancestor in Ireland is said to be a John Horan, who came from Spain. His family probably originated in the Netherlands, but like so many families during the Spanish control of that country, drifted to Spain. The name was changed to Horan after a time but there were likely other discrepancies in the spelling from the beginning. Nothing much can be learned about this family, other than that they were traders and seaman until we reach John Horan, Jr., who owned Kyle Park, an estate in Tipperary County, Ireland. He was a sportsman, wealthy, farmer, sheared a thousand sheep at a time. They had three burial places, the writing in regard to this is not clear, i.e. Sist or List, McCrory, Finoe, etc.
