Note: George Hinz sr., 84, Effingham, retired farmer died yesterday at the Fairview nursing home at Oskaloosa. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Effingham Presbyterian church, the Rev. George Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster cemetery with Stutz Shifflett funeral home of Effingham in charge. Mr.Hinz was born on a farm north of Lancaster Oct. 11, 1879, a son of Herman and Katherin Dorssom Hinz,. He was bapitized at the Lancaster Lutheran church. He attended Shannon grade school and on Oct. 11 1906, he and Anna Lukashavec were married at the Christian church parsonage in Effingham, with the Rev. C. Z. Hastings officiating. Mr. Hinz bought the family place near Lancaster after his father's death, and he and his wife resided most of their married life on this farm and a farm one and one-half miles north of Effingham they purchased in 1921. Mr. and Mrs. Hinz resided one year in Idaho, but otherwise lived all their married life in Atchison county. They retired from the farm in 1959, and moved to Effingham. Mr. and Mrs. Hinz celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1956. Surviving are Mrs. Hinz of the home; two daughters, Mrs. C. D. (Emma) Hawk, Effingham, and Mrs. Earl (Katherine) Lee, St. Joe; two sons, William and George Hinz, jr., both of Effingham; 1o grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A daughter, a sister, Mrs. Emma Lindel, and a brother, Herman Hinz, died previously. Mr. Hinz was devoted to his family, was a friend of everyone, and was always ready to help a neighbor in need. --- Atchison Globe, Friday, June 19, 1964
