a. Note:   ROBERT CLITHERALL LAWRENCE, JR., 72, died peacefully on July 13, 2009 at Greenwich Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Nina Zerbo Lawrence. The Lawrences made their home in Greenwich, Connecticut where they raised their family, and wintered in Palm Beach, Florida in Mr. Lawrence's retirement years. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Lawrence of Bronxville, New York, where he was born and raised. Mr. Lawrence is a graduate of Kent School '55, The University of Virginia '59, with a BA in English literature, where he was a member of Chi Psi fraternity, and ofHarvard Business School's Advanced Management Program '78. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in the Military Police unit of the United States Army. Mr. Lawrence began a 25 year career at Pitney Bowes, Incin Stamford, in the Executive Training Program. His first position as a salesman led to Branch Manager in 2 field offices, and then to corporate headquarters as a Product Manager to launch a new product line. Sales Manager and Directorships followed rapidly and he ultimately led the sales, marketing, service and administration divisions as Group Vice President, reporting to the company's Chairman and CEO. He also served on the Labor Relations Board and several civic boards in Stamford. He was active at Christ Episcopal Church in Greenwich, teaching Sunday School, as a member of the Vestry, Head of the Outreach Committee, and a Stephen Minister. He was a former member of The Greenwich Country Club, and was a member of The Belle Haven Club in Greenwich, and The Everglades Club in Florida. Through the years he enjoyed fishing, playing tennis and squash, dancing and singing, and family vacations in Nantucket, Palm Beach and his most precious vacation spot on Big Wolf Lake in the Adirondack Mountains. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Nina, he is survived by his loving family: Nina Lawrence Reichhelm, Scott Graham Reichhelm, and their children, Nina Zerbo Reichhlem, and Graham Lawrence Reichhlem; Angela Lawrence Lineberger, James Ewers Lineberger, Jr. and their daughters, Alexandra Helene Lineberger, Katherine Angela Lineberger, and Margaret Ewers Lineberger; Robert Clitherall Lawrence, III, Leslie Bloomer Lawrence and their sons, Oliver Lloyd Lawrence and Robert Cameron Lawrence. He is also survived by his dear brother, William Van Duzer Lawrence, III and his dear cousin William Lawrence Balfour. His family is indebted to their "extended family" in so many departments at Greenwich Hospital for their loving care, compassion and friendship, most especially Dr. Stuart McCauley and their Medical Oncology Unit. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 17th, at Christ Episcopal Church on 254 East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich.
