Note: Georgia Winningham, 89, of Granite, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2006, at her home. She was born May 5, 1917, in Granite to Roxie Willis Ledbetter and Esker Ledbetter. She attended Ozark School, graduating in 1938 and married Alfred Winningham in Granite on Oct. 5, 1940. She and her husband farmed for a while before moving to Granite. She worked at Quartz Mountain Lodge for several years in housekeeping. She was a member of the Granite Church of Christ. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Granite and was very active doing volunteer work in the Granite Library, Meals on Wheels and in preparing funeral meals for members of her church. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and being with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 7, 1991; an infant daughter, Barbara Ann; six brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her brother, Gerald Ledbetter of Sulphur Springs, Texas; two sisters, Sarah Williams of Granite and Billie Brookey of Brownfield, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held today at the Granite Church of Christ officiated by Ken Hamilton. Burial followed at City Cemetery under the direction of People's Co-operative Funeral Home.
