Notes
a. Note:   t know who was MAJOR's mother because he was born in about 1859 according to the 1880 Census, and his father had married PITSY ALSTON in 1880. It can be seen in the 1880 Census that MAJOR was listed separately from the younger children as an indication that he was from a different mother. In the Marriage Record of MAJOR T. ALSTON & PATTIE ALSTON on January 6, 1897, it was indicated that both of MAJOR's parents were dead, and very telling in that record was the fact that only his father's name (incorrectly transcribed as JINSEY) was listed while the mother's name was blank. PITSY ALSTON who married JAMES TEXAS ALSTON was still alive in 1900, so they definitely were not referring to her as his mother. Also of note, MAJOR raised his age after 1880 to show his age as born about 1865, which differs from his earliest record in 1880.
Note:   MAJOR T. ALSTON was the son of JAMES TEXAS ALSTON of Warren County, North Carolina. I don'
