a. Note:   ALFRED SHEP(P)ARD GREGORY. (Great Grandfather of author). He was the third son of Joseph and Ann, was born in England February 15, 1817 and baptized, or registered, at Saint John the Baptist�s on December 26, 1817. He emigrated to the United States with his parents. Alfred Shep(p)ard did not accompany his father, Joseph, to Ida Michigan. He remained in Massachusetts until at least 1842. It is estimated that his marriage to Rhoda Croft Gallup took place in 1841. Their first son, George Washington Gregory, was born in North Adams, Massachusetts on February 22, 1842.
