Note: Daniel Millins spent the whole of his life in Cheddington from his birth on the 17th April 1808. He married Beatrice Dollimore in St Giles Parish Church on 13th September 1927. In 1851 Daniel was described as a strawdealer - probably bridging the gap between farmer and the plaiting/straw hat making industry. ASll his children except the eldest were living with him as was his mother in law Elizabeth Dollimore (aged 69) who. However, it seems that Beatrice had died some time earlier and Daniel had in fact remarried an Elizabeth Archer on Christmas day 1848. By 1861 Daniel was described as a `haulier`. Charlotte and her children, except John, were all living with him at the time. Things must have taken a turn for the better because by 1871 Daniel was ` a farmer of 22 acres employing 2 men and 2 boys`. Charlotte was still present with children Beatrice and Joseph. In the 1881 census Daniel was listed as being 73 years of age whose occupation was that of agricultural labourer. It is not clear if he was still employed or not. At the time of the census his daughter Charlotte Pickett was living with him along with son Daniel ( boot and shoe mender) and daughter Beatrice ( dressmaker). ten years later there was just Daniel and Charlotte and he was said to be `living off his own means`. Daniel died on 21st of March 1893.
