Note: Birth certificate staes he was born in Pett near Hastings but also an enrty in IGI for Ulverston, Gloucestershire. The latter may have been a baptism. In 1879, when married, JMP was a 23 year old bachelor working as a railway ticket collector - others in family also worked on railway - living at 7 havelock Terrace, Battersea. In 1881 he was listed in the census as a com (commercial?) coal clerk and later in year when JMP (Jnr) was born was described as a mercantile clerk. In 1901 JMP (aged 44) was living in East Ham, then in Essex. His wife is listed as Louise E. which indicates that he must have remarried having presumably been widowed. He was listed as being an accountant working off his 'own account'. The following children were also listed. Ralph L. age 14 born in Southwark, Surrey Hayward J. age 12, born Camberwell, London Hannah C. age 9 born Leytonstone, Essex Winifred E. age 7 born Leytonstone, Essex There is no indication which wife was the mother of thes children. His two older children Joseph Millins (Jnr) and Charlotte were not living with him. Charlotte was shown as living at York Place 'Home for Young Women' but does not indicate the reason.
