Note: Practically all his life he was connected with the telephone industry in Nova Scotia. He entered the business at the age of 18 in the position of chief accountant for the old Nova Scotia Telephone Co. When the company was reorganized in 1911 as the Maritime Telegraph and Telephone Co he became secretary treasurer, a post he held until his death. In community activities he was secretary treasurer of the Halifax Rotary Club, well known in musical circles and was treasurer of the Halifax Community Concert Asscoiation for several years. In later years he made gardening a hobby and the fine gardens surrounding his property were well known in the western section of the city.
