Note: The following excerpt is copied from a study done by C. St. C. Staynor of Halifax, Nova Scotia in December 1950.
In the records of St. Paul's (church) he is described as a "mariner" in 1843, but in 1850 as "Office Clerk". In the Recorder of Dec. 29, 1860 he is secretary of the "Union Marine Ins. Co.", and announces the Annual General meeting of this company.
