Note: Thomas was a Civil Service Engineer. In 1830 he was assessed 450 for property on Wallace St, Halifax and in 1861 he was assessed 600 for property on Pleasant St, Halifax. The directory of 1863-4 shows him as first clerk Royal Engineers Dept, 57 Pleasant St, Halifax . In 1851 he was living at Lower Water St. Halifax. His tombstone in Camp Hill Cemetery, Halifax and a book called "The Mayer Family" state that he was of the Royal Engineers, Civil Staff.
