Notes
a. Note:   John Henry Goudge arrived in Australia on the "Autocrat" in 1862. Records indicate that he paid his own way, was a British citizen and was a butcher by trade. According to the Bendigo Rate Notices he soon owned 3 butcher shops. For some reason he stated that he was born in Cornwall. He later became an important man about town, Chairman of the local racing Club, a Director of a large financial institution and had grazing interests at Malorna near Gunbower. In his latter years he had a fine home at 11 Manor St. Brighton where both he and his wife died.
