b. Note:   headling "Summary of Cyclone Disaster Staggering" on the front page.Among those listed dead near Sedgwick was "Mrs. Markes, 40, residing amile and a half east of Sedgwick, neck broken."
  Then on Monday, May 28, 1917 the following was found on p. 3 of the"Walnut Valley Times," Volume XXXL, Number 11472.
  "Leon Contributes Victims to Tornado
  Mrs. J. W. Markes, who was killed in the Andale tornado Fridayafternoon, was a sister of Freeman W. Seward, who lives in Glencoetownship northeast of Keighley.
  Mrs. S. E. Seward who was seriously injured and now is in a Newtonhospital was Mr. Seward's mother. It is reported Mr. Markes also wasseriously injured and is in the hospital. The Markes family formerlylived a short distance east of Leon and moved to within one and a halfmiles of Sedgwick about six weeks ago.
  The body of Mrs. Markes will arrive in Leon Monday evening. Thefuneral will be held in Leon Tuesday and burial will be in Leoncemetery."
Note:   On Saturday, May 26, 1917, the "Walnut Valley Times" reported the

According to the"Walnut Valley Times" edition on Thursday, May 31, 1917, "the burialof Mrs. Markes was delayed so that a double funeral might be held."The funeral of Anna and her mother took place Thursday afternoon at2:30 at the Christian church at Leon.
