Note: my sister, Robin Quick, on 14 Feb 1999. "Ernest L. Boggs Cleveland, Oklahoma Territory was the birthplace for Duncan, Okla.resident Ernest Lee Boggs who passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999 athis home. He was born May 2, 1905 to Fred and Addie (Lucas) Boggs. Mr. Boggs graduated from Cleveland High School in 1924. He marriedIrene Sizemore Jan. 2, 1928. He was the owner of Boggs-StephensonDepartment Store in Duncan for many years. He was a member of theElks Lodge, Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, First Christian Churchand Sigma Phi Epslon at Oklahoma A & M College. Cleveland was alwaysa special part of Mr. Boggs' life and he looked forward to keepingtrack of the town's activities by reading the "Cleveland American." He was preceded in death by both parents. Survivors include his wife, of the home; one daughter, Carol AnnStevenson of Duncan; two brothers, Harry Boggs of Hagerman, N. M. andJack Boggs of Sedan, N. M.; three sisters, Nettie Wheelock andMargaret Boyett, both of Amarillo, Texas and Gertie Shields ofAlamogordo, N. M.; grandchildren, Mark and Shelley Stevenson of Enid,Okla. and Carla and David Bryant of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a niece,Evelyn Cheek of Cleveland; and a nephew, Bobby Lucas of Tulsa. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30 at the FirstChristian Church in Duncan with the Rev. Tracy L. Wilson officiating.Burial was at Duncan City Cemetery under the direction of Don GranthamFuneral Home, Inc."
