Note:   Source: Cousin Boskie's notes At this date, 19 May 1999, I believe that Daniel Melton is Isham D.Melton that appears in the 1870 household of Archbone and SallieMelton and as Danil in the 1880 census as a son of Archebus and SallieA. Melton. According to Ginger Dingus' email sent 7 June 1999, DanielI. is the son of Archelous and Sallie Melton. More research needs tobe done on this.

  "D. I. Melton, Oil Salesman, Dies at the AGe of 74
  Resident of Atlanta Almost 50 Years Succumbs.
  D. I. Melton, 74, salesman for the Gulf Refining Company for more than30 years and a resident of Atlanta for almost 50 years, died yesterdayat his residence, 1002 Lawton street, S. W., after an illness ofseveral weeks.
  A native of Mableton, he was a member of the Oakland City Baptistchurch and the John R. Wilkinson Lodge No. 432, F. & A. M. He retiredfrom business nine years ago.
  He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Fred West; three sons, G. I.Melton, of Atlanta; G. H. Melton, of Dover, Del, and C. D. Melton, ofColumbia, S. C.; three sisters, Mrs. Emmie Landers, of Landers; Mrs.Frances Smith and Mrs. Mat Chapman, and a brother, Archie Melton, ofMableton.
  Funeral arrangements will be announced by H. M. Patterson and Son."
  On the same page as this obituary, there is a funeral notice for Mr.D. I. Melton. It's basically the same as the obit except it gives hisdeath date, Jan. 10, 1942. It also states that Mrs. Emmie Landerslives in Mableton, Ga., not Landers as the obituary above states.

e. Note:   Street in Atlanta, Fulton Co., GA. Daniel is 51, born in GA, and is asalesman for an oil company who owns his house free of mortgage. Bothof his parents were born in GA. Mellie M. is 47 and also born in GAas were both her parents. Mellie and Daniel have two children livingwith them. Gary E. is 19 and is a clerk for a steam railroad. Theirsecond son is George H., who is 12.

Note:   In the 1920 census, Daniel I. and Mellie M. are living on 70 Newport
f. Note:   In the marriage book, the bride is listed as Mellie Lee.
