a. Note:   Last name is pronounced Whisha. Source: McCaffree Record. According to an article found in my mom's trunk [which originallybelonged to Lizzie (Sutter) Seward], Nancy's mother Catherine diedwhen Nancy was 9 years old so she lived with her grandmother until shewas 16.

  "Resident of Leon Half Century Dies
  Mrs. James McCaffree, a resident of the Leon community for nearly halfa century, died there last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.R. Sutter. Eighty-eight years old, she had been in ill health severalmonths.
  Mrs. McCaffree was born at Prairie City, Ill., August 28, 1853, andwas married there on February 5, 1872. Later she resided at Randolph,Iowa, and then came to Butler County. Her husband died in April,1926. Mrs. McCaffree had been a member of the Methodist Church allher life.
  Surviving are: four daughters, Mrs. Florence Harris of Cheney, Mrs.Olive Dedrick of Seiling, Okla., Mrs. Delia Prescott of Santiago,Calif., and Mrs. Sutter, and three sons, Andrew Lindsey McCaffree ofEl Dorado, James Elmer McCaffree of Leon and Opher H. McCaffree ofLamar, Mo. Three other children preceded her in death.
  Funeral services will be held at the Leon Methodist Church Saturdayafternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. C. J. Wallace, pastor officiating.Interment will be made in the Leon Cemetery. The Byrd Funeral Home isin charge."
