Text: The following concerns mortgages given by John [Patrick] and Jemima [Patrick]. In 1788, the mortgage from the administration of Elizabeth Clossy was satisfied and John took back the mortgage. “A portion of the original farm of 116 acres is descried according to deed Liber K/203. The indenture was made 24 Jan 1789 between John Partick [sic] of Fredericks Burrough Precinct in Dutchess, NY and Jemime, his wife, of the first part, and Timothy Van Scoy of North Salem, Westchester, NY of the second part. Consideration is L370 paid by Timothy Van Scoy for a certain parsell [sic] of land in No. Salem bounds beginning at the NW corner of land belonging to Ebenezer Purdy at a white oak bush on the S side of the highway that leads from the Academy to the said Timothy Van Scoy’s house and runs W to a stake and stones that is a corner between Timothy Van Scoy, Ebenezer Purdy, and Matthew Delivan thence S by the said Timothy Van Scoy’s land til it comes to Denton Smith’s land, thence E by the said Smith’s land til it comes to Ebenezer Purdy’s land thence by Purdy’s land to beginning. Contains 76 ½ acres. John Patrick signs his name and Jemima signs with her mark. Witnesses are Phebe Purdy and Ebenezer Purdy. Recorded 9 Dec 1789 by Richard Hatfield, Clerk.
