Text:   "The Van Scoy-Edwards Cemetery is located on a wooded nature preserve just off Northwest Road in an area of Easthampton called the Northwest Woods. The gravestones range in date from 1782, the earliest burial, to 1884, the latest date on the memorial monument. . . Although not nearly the oldest private family cemetery on the east end of Long Island, time and the elements have not been kind to the stones which memoralize these pioneering families. In fact two headstones are missing all together. Luckily, through the use of today's technology, with a little time, effort and care, we are able to preserve these memories for all time."

Notes
a. Note:   Military Service - Revolutionary War: DAR Patriot Index - Centennial Edition (see Source List for complete citation):
"Van Scoy, Isaac Sr: b. 4- - 1732 NY d 10-5-1817 NY m (1) Mercy (Mary) Edwards (2) Elizabeth (Dibble) Osborn PS NY"
DAR Patriot Index - Diamond Jubilee Adminstration (see Source List for complete citation):
  "Van Scoy, Isaac Sr: b. 4- 1732 d 1817 m (1) Mary Edwards (2) Elizabeth (Dibble) Osborn PS NY"
". . . Isaac Van Scoy had moved to Northwest in 1757, purchasing 300 acres of land on which he built his dwelling house, barns and other outbuildings. In 1771, he built a larger house for his eight children--a new-two story, 34-foot-by-30-foot frame house.
When his wife, Mercy Edwards, died in 1782, a Connecticut sandstone marker was erected in the family's burial plot on the farm." There is a photo of the Connecticut sandstone gravestone mentioned above in the Van Scoy-Edwards Cemetery. "Wife of Mr. Isaac Van Scoy died Oct 5, 1782 in the 50th Year of her age" (See Source List for complete citation} The old style writing is evident on this gravestone. The "S" in Isaac and Van Scoy is etched as an "F."
Census of Suffolk County, New York - 1766:
2 males above 16 and under 50 years of age; 1 male under 16 years of age; 2 females above 16 years of age; 3 females under 16 years of age.
Even to this day, the Van Scoy name is memoralized in the Hamptons:
" East Hampton Trails Preservation Society
"May 10, Saturday [2003], 10 Am Van Scoy Loop (5 miles)
"Using parts of seven different trails, we will visit the remains of the once prosperous Van Scoy family farm in the Northwest. Meet at the intersection of Hands Creek Rd. and Van Scoy's Path West in East Hampton."
Research needed: Need to find out which church in which Issac was Deacon.
