Notes
a. Note:   Message found on Ancestry Message: Subject: Daniel Purdy - Rev War Author: Connie Corbet Date:02 Jan 2001
This message refers to Daniel Purdy's War Pension Application.
The following paragraphs refer to my searching:
"2 March 1833 Daniel Purdy, resident of North Salem, Westchester County, New York, age 78, applied for a pension based on his service in the Revolutionary War under the Act of 7 June 1832.
Affiants: Abraham VAN SCOY of North Salem, Westchester County, New York, age 73, also a native of North Salem. And John MERRIT, of North Salem, age 77, Timothy VAN SEAY, preacher of the Baptist Church."
I believe Timothy VAN SEAY should have been transcribed as Timothy VAN SCOY. I cannot find any Van Seays on the Internet. Also information about Cat Ridge Cemetery, North Salem, Westchester County, New York, states:
"This burial ground, situated on private property, was once associated with a nearby Baptist Church. Timothy Van Scoy erected the first meeting house nearby circa 1978. (this is the date on the sign, but I believe it's a mistake)."
Parenthetical statement made by Jeanne Kornhass, who contributed this material. It is possible that the sign should state the date of 1878 or 1778.
