Title: The Van Scoy-Edwards Cemetery Author: Submitted by Robert V. Bromberg, historian for Sag Harbor's historic Masonic Lodge Publication: http://longislandgenealogy.com/Sag Harbor/VanScoy.html Text: "The Van Scoy-Edwards Cemetery is located on a wooded nature preserve just off Northwest Road in an area of Easthampton called the Northwest Woods. The gravestones range in date from 1782, the earliest burial, to 1884, the latest date on the memorial monument. . . Although not nearly the oldest private family cemetery on the east end of Long Island, time and the elements have not been kind to the stones which memoralize these pioneering families. In fact two headstones are missing all together. Luckily, through the use of today's technology, with a little time, effort and care, we are able to preserve these memories for all time." |
