  Born in West Saint John on June 24, 1927 he was the son of the late George and Marie (DeRoche) Burnett. Husband of Dorothy (Kaye,Porter) Burnett.
  Donald retired from Irving Pulp & Paper in 1992. He was involved with the Lancaster Fire Dept. & Salvage Corp. for 33 years. He was a member of the Willis Orange Lodge and just received his 60 year pin. Don loved going to the Pine Cone Trailer Park in Sussex, and since retirement he loved going on cruises to the Caribbean. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69 and the Hillcrest Baptist Church.
  He is survived by his 4 daughters, Linda (Douglas) Hayes, of Saint John, Marilyn (Leonard) Merrill, of Saint John, Catherine (Jack) Cole, of Long Reach, Cindy (Arthur) Cobham, of Saint John; 4 sons, Gary Porter, of Saint John, Michael (Karen) Porter, of Grand Bend, Ont., Kevin Porter, of Huron Park, Ont., and Patrick (Charlotte) Porter, of Saint John; a brother, Edmund, of Mississauge, Ont.; 2 sisters, Mildred Hamilton, of Saint John and Alice Jackson, of Chatham, Ont.; 20 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
  Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Vera (Linton); 5 sisters, Louise, Stella, Annie, Phyllis and Maude and 5 brothers, Joseph, Roy, Samuel, Thomas and Edgar.
  Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, July 10, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a Legion Service on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m.
  A funeral service will take place on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. from Castle Funeral Home.
  Interment to follow in Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery.
  A reception will take place at the Lancaster Legion #69, Wilson Street, Saint John.
