Note: Her childhood was spent in Iowa with her mother. Her father passed away when Florence was only four years old. She Attended Redfield Academy in South Dakota one year where she met Marion Glasier to whom she was married in 1918. One son, Mickey was born to them. Florence later married Charles M. Freeland and they moved to Kimball South Dakota, were their home was blessed with four girls and four boys. Charles died when Florence was thirty-five leaving her with nine children aged 2 - 15 years. With her mother's help she cared for the children. Her daughters remember her jumping rope with them. They were amazed at this feat since they considered their mother to be old. She was thirty-five. The children birth names were replaced by nicknames as they grew. Alice was called Fudgie; Miriam, Mae; Loren, Boots: Everette, Ole; Adele, Dottie; and Ray was Babe. When her children were grown she moved to Wichita, Kansas to care for her son, Ray's children while he attended college and his wife Margie worked. She latter moved with them to Phoenix, Arizona and continued to help with the children until she moved to Shelton Washington in 1971. Friends and family remember her sense of humor. She was full of wise cliches and had a unique pronunciation for many words. She loved to bake bread. She often came to church with several loaves to give away. She loved horses and gardening. Her children remember being forced to pick potato bugs from her garden in earlier times. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. Many pairs of pillowcases made by her were given as gifts. She also loved to read. Church potlucks would find her searching the school library shelves for more books to read. She especially loved to read the Bible. She was not a person to sit at home doing sedentary activities if there was a chance to go somewhere. At the time of her 81st birthday she traveled to South Dakota and Arizona. "And Wisconsin to the home's of Grandson Everette Allen Freeland family, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, and Her son Everette Freeland in his home in Boyceville Wisconsin". She was ready at a moment's notice to take a ride or go shopping with friends and family. On her 84th birthday she decided to have a party. She called friend and family and invited them to Kneeland Park for a potluck and birthday celebration. There was a good turn out. Many guest were a bit amazed that a 84 year old person had engineered her own birthday celebration. Florence church was very important to her. She attended faithfully until recent years when her health no longer permitted it. Of Florence it may be said, "Because "she" has set "her" love upon Me... with long life will I satisfy "her" and show "her" my salvation." (Ps. 91:14,16) "Blessed are the dead that lie in the lord...that they may rest from their labors and their words do follow them. (Rev. 14:13) As per death obituary-written by Daughter Alice.
