Note: BIO: OBITUARY: MRS. GRIFFITH DIES SATURDAY AT ROCKLANE Respected Mother of Clark Trustee Buried at Local Cemetery Funeral rites for Mrs. Alice Frances Griffith were conducted at her home about two miles northwest of Rocklane Wednesday morning. Mrs. Griffith, the mother of Clark township trustee John Griffith, died at her home Sunday morning after being in failing health for over a year. Mrs. Griffith was an honored and respected member of the Rocklane community where she spent her entire life. She was born in Rocklane on March 12, 1876, the daughter of Francis E. and Susan Mock Wright. On July 29, 1896, she was married to Ernest Griffith who preceded her in death in 1932. They were the parents of five children, four of whom survive. Survivors beside the son include three daughters, Mrs. Burris Grubb of Greenwood, Mrs. Merrill Smith of Los Angeles, California and Mrs. Robert Winzenread of Indianapolis; a brother, S. Wright od Southport and cashier at the National Bank of Greenwood; a sister, Mrs. L. M. Brown of Greenwood; a half-sister, Mrs. Martha Harting of Elwood; and eighteen grandchildren. Pallbearers for Mrs. Griffith are the following: William Copeland, Burl Copeland, Paul Burgett, Ernest Grubb, Roy McClain, and Victor Griffith. Services were conducted by the Rev. Alvan L. Tiffin, pastor of the Rocklane Christian church, of which Mrs. Griffith was a member almost all her life. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery. The following are the words to a song that Grandma Griffith used to sing to her children. The words were written by Leta Griffith Grubb at the request of John, the son of Alice.
