Note: [Hoopers Main -A.GED] Mom was buried in Belmont Memorial Park cemetery, Fresno,CA. Mr. Larry Showalter officianted at graveside service for MOM. Larry also sang the following volcal selections as the family were saying goodby to MOM; The Old Rugged Cross, Side By Side We Stand and Church In The Wildwood. These were MOM's favorite. Mom was not a Seventh Day Adventish Church member but, Rober her youngest son was. Robert requested Larry to assit the family in saying goodby to MOM. MOM was a good hearted person all the way around and especially for the times that DAD threw the mother possissum into the baby's crib. Of course the possissum try to play dead, but, I had both hands into her hair. I was thinking probably this is not fun when hearing MOM yelling for me to stop. I still don't know what happen to the possissum. Also, DAD's homemade stilling of alchol that he was going to take to his DAD in MI, we had a small fire on top of the stove. Mom, grabbed the fire extinguisher and was going to put out the fire and DAD yelling you will ruin the alchol. No, damage. But, nerves were on edge. This next part is second hand, but what a story. I had not arrived yet. Mom and Dad had been married maybe all but four months or so as Grandpa Hooper told part of the story. Mom & Dad were living with Grandpa & Grandma at the time as times were hard at that time. Dad was working in the OLD MASTER WINERY as a distiller, Cast builder and other such trades. Dad didn't come home, and it was getting later and later. Naturally MOM grew more worried. And this part was a big mistake. She went to Granddad and asked him if she should be more, and more worried. Granddad, with a new daughter-in-law was about to have fun. He said, and I quote, "No you don't need to worry, as he has done this before, sometimes its one to two weeks, before he comes dragging back home, and he never tells us where he was." That did it, MOM was in the car not knowing how to drive and Grandpa was yelling at her to leave the car alone. But, Grandpa ended up driving her down to the WINERY where they found DAD fast asleep in one of the big WINE TANKS. The OLD MASTER WINERY own by Mr Benson. Was torn down in Michigan and the LAWSONS, BENSONS, and MOM, DAD and I just 2 yrs old was jumping up and down on my new brother to arrive after we get to Fresno,CA.
