  Jesse Ober Funeral Rites -------------------------- Funeral services for Jesse Ober were held Friday at the Plainview Methodist Church with Rev. C. R. Tanner in charge.
  Music was furnished by Mrs. Leroy Jensen, Mrs. Duane Douglas, Mrs. C. R. Tanner and Mrs. Carl Jensen with Mrs. Milton Wiegert as organist.
  Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery with Samuel Wiegert, Milton Wiegert, George Bailey, Ira Pendergast, Leslie Christiansen and Emmett Musick as pallbearers.
  Jesse Newman Ober was born to William and Melissa Ober January 1, 1884 near Meadow Grove and died at his home in Plainview April 19, 1955 at the age of 71 years, 3 months and 18 days.
  He grew to manhood in the Meadow Grove community. On April 30, 1910 he was united in marriage to Ruby Benedict of Plainview. To this union were born four children.
  Mr. Ober spent his entire life farming in Pierce and Knox counties until he and his wife retired in 1948 and moved to the present home in Plainview.
  He was baptized and joined the Methodist Church in early life. He was a loving husband and father, a good neighbor and friend, always ready to lend a helping hand.
  He is survived by his wife, Ruby; three sons, Virgil of Osmond, Clayton of Neligh and Kenneth of Plainview; one daughter, Mrs. Covell Musick of Plainview; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs Melissa Ober of Meadow Grove; four brouther, Elmer and Glen, Meadow Grove, Otto and Ted, Norfolk; two sistrs, Mrs. Maude Carpenter of Vallejo, California and Mrs. Edith Ballentine of Meadow Grove.
  He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, one sister and two grandsons.
  Article by Mrs. Samuel Wiegert ---------------------------------- Stark Valley people were grieved and shocked to learn of the sudden death of one of their former residents, Jesse Ober, at his home in Plainview late last Tuesday evening. Mr. Ober, who had helped shingle his house that afternoon, suffered a fatal heart attack that night. Friends recall that Mr. Ober loved to sing the old time hymns and often neighbors would hear his voice in song as he drove his team along the roads of Stark Valley, Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Covell Musick, and to the other members of the Ober family. Out of town people were present for the funeral services Friday at the Plainview Methodist Church from North Platte, Creighton, Bloomfield, Norfolk, Meadow Grove, Neligh, Fremont, Scribner, Laurel, Sioux City, Osmond, Pierce, Newman Grove Clearwater, Wausa, Pender, Mc Lean, and Beloit, Wisc.
