  He was artistic, loved beautiful things. Was tall and blond, a good man, with kind, calm disposition. His daughter said, "she never heard him scold or complain." After marriage lived nar Port Washington, Tuscarawas, OH., until 1845, when they moved to Buchannan Co., IA. In 1863 they moved to Dallas Co., IA., and in 1871 to Dixon Co., NE., where they both died. His was the first grave in East View Cemetery two miles east of Allen, NE., on a farm owned by Michael Ginther and his son John Joseph Ginther. He lost one fair fortune, then made another, only to loose most of that through illness. He was crippled with arthritis for twenty years. Their's was the first house in Summer Township, Buchannan, IA., having the first town election and school. They were devout people, reared in the Moravian Church, but became Methodists in later years. Michael's family came to Gradenhutten in 1805, among settlers in the state of Ohio.
