Note: [Hoopers Main -A.GED] Miss Jennie Stewart who compiled and published "Peter Ginther's Family" states, that Rose was born in Independence,Buchanan,IA. Short of stature, slight of build. Had thich curly red brown hair, and brown eyes. Fine classic features. Very neat, energetic, cometant, frank in speech, but did not talk much. Soft voice. Quiet in movement, light step. Always ready to help those in need. Protestant. Member M. E. Church. Gentle and kind. Read a great deal. Studious. Thrifty. Made attractive home for her family. Good partner to husband in Pioneer years. Married in Oto,Woodbury,IA., 9-2-1870, Miner Clark Mead, born 11-29-1848 South Bend,St. Joseph,IL., son of Thompson Mead and wife Leafy Frances Clark. He was short of stature, had blue eyes, brown hair. (See Mead-Clark Genealogy, pub. 1946, compiled by Eva Mead - Firestone, for ancestry of Miner). Carpenter by trade. Life long member of the Masonic Lodge. Sociable. Courteous. Played Alto or Baritone horn. Sang in Church Choir. Active in Church work. Composed little songs and poetry, which he sang to his grandchildren, entertained us with riddles, rhymns, and puzzles. Champion speller. Wrote articles for newspaper in Sioux City,Woodbury,IA., and other publications. Then fourteen, ran away to join the Northern Army. Officers became very fond of him, and although he begged to stay, was returned to his home, one or two officers went with him, to see that he arrived safely. Rose Ann died 9-19-1910 in Norfolk,Madison,NE., and buried in Beemer,Cuming,NE., and Miner traveled from state to state, engaged as contractor carpenter, in localities where his children were settled. Neat and conservative in dress. Never seen without Masonic pin in lapel, and this emblem on watch chain. Gentleman of the old school. Died 1-19-1926 Bonilla,Beadle,SD., at home of his daughter Grace Lillian. Buried in Beemer,Cuming,NE.,. Protestant.
