  William E. & Sara Bennett were Charter members of the Zion Baptist Church constituted October 15, 1853. The church may have been built on some of their land. There were with a group of 19 who were granted letters from the Graves Creek Baptist Church (organized in 1803) to organize Zion Baptist Church.
