a. Note:   Isaac Watts Thorn was born in Jackson Co Ohio. 1850 Census - Isaac Thorn was living with brother Augustine . They were farmhands for Mayfield McGhee and wife Anna Thorn McGhee - their sister. In the early 1850's Isaac had moved to Appanoose Co Iowa where his brother Robert Carter Thorn was living. Isaac W Thorn and Nancy E Moore were married in Nathaniel Moore's home near Centerville, Appanoose Co Iowa in Feb 1853. Their first 6 children were born in Appanoose Co Iowa. 1860-1870 Isaac and Nancy had moved their family to Jasper Co,McDonald Township, Missouri close to Avilla Mo. My father had said that his father David Franklin Thorn was born on the Rose Ranch near Avilla. Also moving to the same area from Marion Co Iowa was Isaac's sister and Brother -in-law Joseph and Nancy B Thorn-Wilbur.
  1890 - Early 1890's Isaac had bought a tract of land on Baseline (M Hwy) West of Jasper in the Preston area (Recorded in Duvall Township Plat Map) just west of Northfork Creek on the North side of the Highway. The property was sold in Dec 1894. Isaac and Nancy moved to Barry Co Missouri probably about 1895. Nancy died that August. 1897-November Isaac Watts Thorn passed away near Cross Hollows Missouri. Both he and Nancy are buried in the Oakridge Cemetery at Cross Hollows which is about 10 miles east of Cassville Missouri. Obituary Cassville Republican Newspaper Nov 25 1897: Grandfather Thorne (mispelled) of Cross Hollows died at the extreme old age of 84** years. The remains were interred Friday. **Isaac was 71 at his death . His tombstone has correct dates of birth and death . I feel I have traveled thousands of miles and seen lots of adventure and joy as well as sorrows as I have followed this Pioneering family . Elmer L Thorn Great Grandson
