Message from Rita Effnert: I thought about a friend I had at Newbold for a short time just before and during the early years of the war - her name was Wendy Needham and they lived on that little road (West something?) which goes off Newbold Road just past Hardy's Builder's Yard. Her father's name was Owen I feel sure, dont know her mother's. They were pretty old to have a girl her age (she was a bit younger than me) and I know her father had been in the 1st war.
Owen had a plate in his head.
