Note: There were 3 entries on Martin Friend suing Mary for a divorce in those old books. Never found a final one . The last date on divorce filing on Martin Friend and Mary Sloniker was April 13. 1882. They spelled her name Sloweker on the marriage application.
Jackson L. Bixby to Mollie Hicks marriage Sept 14, 1887 Henry Co Missouri. This has to be Mary C Sloniker as the 1900 census shows Mary C and Jackson Bixby as being married 13 years. That would make them married in 1887.
Mary Catherines daughter Mabel was married as Mabel Hicks in Labette Co Ks to James A Walker . So instead of Martin Friend being Mabel's father it was a Hicks. Maybe Mary was still married to Martin when she became pregnant with Mabel but gave Mabel the biologoical father's name and she also may have married Hicks as she married Jackson Bixby as Mollie Hicks. There was a Mary Friend in Ft Scoot ,Bourbon Co Ks. as a domestic servant in 1880. Possibly this is where Mary C was at that time and met Mr Hicks as he passed through Ft Scott. Lot of mystery here.
