Note:   ty, OH are recorded as selling 149 acres - 2 parcels - to John, Abraham and William Lakin 24 Feb 1819. (JS 8-199) Mary was listed as one of the heirs of Abraham Lakin.
!Isaac acquired land in Preble County, Jefferson Twp, near New Paris before 1820 (US land entries show McDivitt, Isaac, as assignee of William Ireland, acquiring NE 1/4 Section 19, Twp 9, Range 1 on July 1, 1818, Volume 68, P1). He is listed on the 1820 census for Preble County, Jefferson Twp, which shows 2 males 16-26 (one in agriculture, one in mfg), 1 male less than 10, and 1 female 16-26 (the second male 16-26 would likely be Samuel - see Samuel McDevit). On 31 August 1831 he bought lot #1, New Paris. On 2 Aug 1834, Isaac and Mary sold S19 T9 R1.
!Isaac moved from Preble County to Noble County, IN probably between 1834-1835. The History of Noble Co Ind, dtd 1902 by Alford, states "... the fall of 1832 several families settled on Haw Patch ... the McDevitts...". Original land records of Noble County show Isaac McDevitt purchased 120 acres in the NW corner of Section 24 of Perry Twp on March 6, 1835. (Also shown about 2 miles away is a 40 acre lot in the NW 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Section 27 sold to Wm "McDiffit" on 25 May 1836. This would seem too early to be a son of Isaac, since he was married in May 1817, which would make his oldest child not more than 18 years. Possibly it was a brother of Isaac?) This may have been Isaac, but the 1850 census indicates that his son, Reuben is 16 years old and born in Ohio; the 1870 census shows Reuben as 37 years old, and born in Ohio, indicating about 1833/34. They possibly could have moved back and forth, before permanently settling in Noble Co.
