Note: From: <Daniel Tuesday, March 04, 2003 10:22 PM Last tdbitHi Earl, I just finished going throught the census data and the court records of Sampson County. In 1850, Moore is still living with JoAnn (Wdow of Charles Riley). There is one male child child in the 1850 census that was not living with them in 1840.1 don't know where he came from. He may be a son of Charles riley and JoAnn that was living somewhere else in 1840. The WIdow of Jonathan (Nancy (Polly)Daniels Strickland is still living in her house in 1850. From the ages of the children I estimate that Jonathan died about 1848 49. If you dont have the census info on his family, let me know and I will send . It looks like Daniel departed Sampson about 1847. This may be Moore selling off his house and furnishings. Also, in 1847, 1848, Moore had several judgement against himin the court for debts. This may have been a sham sale to get everything out of his name so the court (Sheriff) could not take it. It is sort of humerous that he was elected Constable at the same time the judgements were falling place. Oh well, wewill keep looldng and find what is available.Monday, March 03,2003 9:07 PM A tidbit on Moore St:ricklandHi Earl, I found a little more on Moore Strickland. I am guessing but this appears that he is selling an entire household. This may indicate when Jonathan died and moore is selling his assets. I need to check the Sampson Court records and see if Jonathan'sname appeared after this date. Or it may be that Moore is selling his place and moving in somewhere else. 6 Aug 1846, Bill of Sale, Moore Strickland to Lewis Tew, Jr. $30.00 for 9 head of hogs, 5 head of cows, I bedstead & furniture, all the numerous things about the the house too tedius to mention, All the corn and fodder that is made on the landwhere said Strickland lives witness; Sampson Jackson. Signed, Moore Strickland. Registered 1 1 Oct 1847, Sampson Deed Book Vol 29I found a little more on Moore Strickland. I am guessing but this appears that he is selling an entire household.
