Note: Archives material tl' Mary Kay Wiener - Jun 19, 2002 - Hi gang. I'm slowly going through my papers. Today I went through the estate papers for Henry Brown. There are some interesting tidbits. First, Jeremiah Brown was the administrator of theestate. 'I Jeremiah Brown of Haywood County NC do solemnly swear that Henry Brown is dead without having made any last will and testament and that I will well and truly administer upon all and singular the good and chattles lands and tenements ofthe said deceased according to law so help me God. signed Jeremiah Brown sworn to this the 13th day of Feb 1880.' Another place states 'balance due the estate by the administrator to be divided among nine original heirs, to wit: John Brown, ReubenBrown, Moses Brown, Robert Brown, Jeremiah Brown, James Brown, Riller Brown (a female), Polly Green, and Elizabeth Russell which will give each heir the sum of $60 to be paid each of said heirs or their representations'. Other info: May 1883 -Heirs of James Brown dcd three in number - Tempy E. Williamson, Margaret Conway/Conoway, ]H (Wexler) Brown; to amount due Jeremiah Brown an heir; to amt due Robt Brown by amt to Narcissus E. Brown admin of Robt Brown; to amt due heirs of PollyGreen by cash to Silas Green for heirs; to arnt due Riller Brown heirs (Matilda Brown and Wilson Brown; by amt paid Nancy Brown child of Wilson Brown; by cash to IS Harrell for Henry Brown Jun. heir of Wilson Brown; 'the notes on Garmon and Fowlerand balance of notes on Robt Brown and Robt G. Brown are each entirely insolvent, neither party own any land and scarcely any personal property, Robt Brown died leaving an insolvent estate, and the only amts collected on the two Brown notes werethe distribution share of cash and was retained by the administrator'; to amt due Elizabeth Russell; to arnt due heirs of John Brown, dcd which is to be divided among 10 children which gives each one the sum of $6; to amt due; then it lists heirsof John Brown -- Jesse dcd., Maranda N. Haynes, Julia Rector, Wrn H. Brown, Sarah James, Harriet Low, SP Brown, Robt G. Brown, W.A. Brown, Caroline Russell; to amt due Moses Brown dcd divided among 6 children -- IM Brown, Arrena Massey, StacySparks, AL Brown, Jesse Brown, Polly Brown; Another page lists the original heirs of Henry Brown -- #1 John Brown dead with heirs Jesse (dcd), William H., SP, Sarha 3arnes, Julia Rector, Harriett Low, Maranda N. Haynes, Caroline Russell, Robt G,WA; #2 Reuben Brown, his share attached by admin. #3 Moses Brown dead with children Isaac M., Arrena Massey, Stacy Sparks, AL , Jesse , Polly; #4 Robt Brown dead #5 Jeremiah Brown #6 James Brown dead and his children are Elizabeth Williamson,Wexler Brown, and Margarett Conoway; #7 Riller Brown her children are Matilda Brown, Wilson Brown dcd and his children are Henry Brown and Nancy Brown; #8 Polly Green wife of Silas Green, dead and their children (this is blank); #9 ElizabethRussell wife of David Russell Now ... our records say there is a Samuel G. Brown, Tempy Wakefield Brown, and Wilson Brown. Probably this is because the 1850 census lists Henry and Tempy Brown with Samuel age 17, Wilson age 13, Tempy age 16, andMary 3ustice age 85; 1 wonder if these three individuals are their grandchildren instead of their children. I know this is a lot of 'stuff' but look through it and spe what you think.
