I am not sure it will help you. Send me the info you have on your John Strickland and I may be able to help you.6 Aug 1792, Deed of Git- William Strickland to Harman Strickland. Harman Strickland was given part of a tract or parcel of land containing 200 acres on the East side of the Little Cohaiie and both sides of the Homett (Harnett) Swamp, beginning onthe north side of said swamp and runs south.. West crossing Hornett swamp.. to a pine by a branch, etc ... Land was granted to him (William Strickland) by patent bearing date 29 Oct 1792, contains 50 acres of land beginning of the Hornet River onthe first line- Witnesses, Peregreen Johnson, Robert Wooden, John Johnson. Note: This abstract was obtained from the Sampson County Abstracts compiled by Max Peterson, JrIn the 1790 census of Swnpson County Harman Strickland is shown as follows: Harman Stiickland I -0- I -0 This would be Harman and Mary and no children yet.In the 1800 census of Sampson County is the following: Harman Strickland- 2m ulO, lm26u45 3F ulO, IF26u45 This is Harman & Mary with 5 children under age 10 in the 18 1 0 census of Sampson County is the following: Harman Strickland- 2m ulO, lmlOul6, lm26U45 2F ulO, 2FlOul6, IF16u26, IF26u45 .Cornparing these cenwses, Harman and Mary were born between 1765 & 1774 They had I son born 179x, who either died young or has struck out on his own. I son born 1794-1800 and 2 sons born I SOx.Harman Strickland died 1812 Nov Court 1812, Sampson Co. Mary Strickland, widow of Harman Strickland was granted leave to sell the perishables of Harman's estate.Feb Court IS 1 3 of Sampson Co G- Jackson returned an inventory of the estate of Harman Strickland. Rezin Royal, Esq-, returned an accounting of one years provisions for Mary Strickland, widow of Hannan Strickland. I don't know where you live, but the North Carolina State Archives has original estate records of this period that have not been microfilmed. if this data fits your John Strickland, you may want to pumue this line- They may well shed more light onthe names of the children of Harman. ~
