Note: From:<Daniel Tuesday, March 04, 2003 10:22 PM Last tidbit Hi Earl, I just finished going throught the census data and the court records of Sampson County. In 1850, Moore is still living with JoAnn (Wdow of Charles Riley). There is one male child child in the 1850 census that was not living with them in 1840. 1don't know where he came from. He may be a son of Charles riley and JoAnn that was living somewhere else in 1840. The widow of Jonathan (Nancy (Polly)Daniels Strickland is still living in her house in 1850. From the ages of the children I estimate that Jonathan died about 1848 49 If you dont have the census info on his family, let me know and I will send ft. It looks like Daniel departed Sampson about 1847. This may be Moore selling off his house and furnishings. Also, in 1847, 1848, Moore had several judgement against him in the court for debts. This may have been a sham sale to get everything out ofhis name so the court (Sheriff) could not take it. It is sort of humerous that he was elected Constable at the same time the judgements were falling place. Oh well, we will keep looldng and find what is available. Daniel ~ Hi Earl, The odds are looking better that your Daniel Strickland came from Sampson County. It looks like the Daniel Strickland in Sampson County moved away in 1846 to avoid debts. This is the last tidbit I found in the court records of Sampson County. Nov Court 184ro,-. Sampson County Case # 7: Moses Cox vs Daniel Strickland- In this case it appearing to the court that the defendant has abscounded or so concealed himselfthat per'sonal service of notice can not be made.
