Page Decie Hill Smathers told me (May 1995) that Grandpa hill (William Albert Sr.) would visit and stay with them on Fines Creek.Bud and family moved from Fines Creek to Barber Orchards about 1923 and Grandpa hill returned to South Carolina- Bud and Mary lived in South Carolina for a while in early 1900's. Nathan was bom in South Carolina. Decie said Nathan could talk when9 months old and that he was very smart. Bud and Mary returned to Fines Creek after Nathan's death.Waynesville Mountaineer, Nov 5, 193 1: Saunook News, Mr Ned Sparks, Mr WA Hill and Mr TB Sisk were severly ipjured while working last week in the local orchard.Waynesville Mountaineer Feb 25,1932: Saunook News, Mr WA hill and three sons made a recent trip to Fines Creek. Waynesville Mountaineer Mar 3, 1932:Saunook News, Mr WA hill retumed Monday from a business trip to Tennessee. William Albert Hill, 87, a retired farmer died in the Waynesville hospital at 7:30 PM Sunday following an extended illness. Mr Hill was a native (not so) and life long resident of Haywood County and was a member of the Pleasant Balsam BaptistChurch. His wife Mrs Mary Clark Hill died in 1943 (actually 1944). Surviving are three daughters Mrs Wiley Carver of Clyde RI. 2, Mm Herman Burgess and Mrs Ray Smathers of Waynesville, Rt. 1, seven sms, Garrett, Claude and Noel of Waynesville, Rt.1, Clark of Woodstown, New Jersey, Millard of Kannapolis, NC, Hugh A. of Brevard, NC, and Kenneth of Camas, Washington, a brother George Hill of Clyde, RI. I and 40 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:30 PM in PleasantBalsain Baptist Church. Burial will be in Red Bank Cemetery.
