  Edgecliff Village -- Charles Lee Talbot, 80, passed to his Lord's greater reward on Friday morning, January 31, 2014. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 12 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to service at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Charles was born on January 6, 1934 in Beatrice, Nebraska to Allison Burr Talbot and Bessie Louise Stevens Talbot. Charles, also better known as Chuck, graduated from Beatrice High School in Beatrice, Nebraska where he then became employed with Northern Natural Gas Company. He joined the Nebraska National Guard and later enlisted in the United States Army and made a career of it in the Armor Branch retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. He served two tours of duty in Germany and one combat tour in Vietnam. He served with distinction and received numerous awards and decorations for his service to include the Combat Infantryman Badge, three Bronze Star Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal, and Legion of Merit. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Sergeant Majors Association, National Rifle Association, Mount Hiram Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, the York Rite, and was a Shriner Mason of Moslah Temple. In addition, Chuck was a proud member of the warrior society of the Kiowa Indians. Retirement from the military placed him and his family in Edgecliff Village of Fort Worth, Texas where he became a household name from his dedicated service to his community by serving as facilities engineer, fire chief, city marshal, city alderman, mayor pro-tem, mayor, and later as an associate municipal judge. He also worked as a Tarrant County Deputy Sheriff Sergeant serving as a court bailiff, and then worked as patrol officer, detective sergeant, and as interim Police Chief for Crowley, Texas. Chuck held the advanced certificate as a Texas Law Enforcement Officer. Chuck was an avid deer and small game hunter plus fishing whenever he could go and enjoyed the great outdoors as much as he could all through his life. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Joyce Talbot Jones and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Sue Stewart Talbot of Edgecliff Village, Texas; daughter, Tanya Lee Talbot Williams of Foley, Alabama; granddaughter, Courtney Kyle Bogard of Bedford, Texas; great-grandson, Brendon Tyler Bogard; great-granddaughter, Jensen Rye Eubanks; brother, Donald Gene Talbot of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister, Susan Carol Talbot Stephan of Grand Falls, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
