Note: October 27, 1999. Met with Fred D. Nation today. He said he was told that his grandfather James B. Nations was killed in Mississippi 6 months after the civil war ended, by a General Johnston and his band of renegade Union Soldiers who were marauding the countryside with carpetbaggers stealing and killing everybody who got in their way. Fred said it is referred in the World Book as the second battle of Shiloh. Fred said they found James B. Nations body in the middle of the road about 6 miles out of town. According to Fred , James' widow married a Will Benton from Texas and her and the children, Thomas, Ellis & Phoebe came to Texas Abt. 1870.
