Then he married Louisa Clara Camelia Gilbert on 13 August 1885 in Freestone County,TX.They were parents of seven children. He came to Cotton Gin when he was 19 and married soon after he coming here. (He was age 21 when he married) He had two daughters Cynthia Louisa and Delilah and a son who died at birth with his mother. He then married Clara Camella Gilbert Sammons about 1884. Clara had one daughter by a previous marriage, Willie Sammons. Leslie and Clara had six children, Jessie Lee 1888, Thomas Leslie 1892, Elmer Daw 1895 -1976, Ruby Inez 1898-1975, Donavon Erwin 1900 and Dee Ross 1904-1976. They moved to a farm about 3 miles south of Freestone, Texas in 1890 and lived in a log house for about ten years.Leslie was a self made and educate d man. He read two daily news papers even though they were sometimes old when he got them and he also read books aloud to the family at night. Besides being a farmer he was a carpenter and Justice of Peace and he held this office for 15 years. In those days the Justice of the Peace held court and had trials and they also performed marriage ceremonies. Leslie Thomas died January 14, 1942 _____ He always wore black,including a black hat.
