Note: Family history said Gertrude was despondent and committed suicide. However, some direct descendents of the Davis/Bogard line contacted me in 2002. They claimed that William C. Davis was a U. S. Marshal in the Indian Territory. William supposedly got drunk, and was insanely jealous of Gertrude and shot her thinking infidelity. The descendents said William was given the option to resign and leave the territory to avoid prosecution. William took the children and moved to the state of Washington.
