Notes
a. Note:   Roy Ward Bogard started out working for Greines Furniture Co as a deliveryman, and account collector. He learned to work on stoves and opened Wards Stove Service. He went into the used car business in the late 30's. When the war broke out, he went to work for American Mfg. Co. as a line foreman, making shells and bombs. His work kept him from being drafted into the military, as the defense dept. determined his postion was vital to the national defense. After the war, Ward went into business with Jack Wilborn in the used car business under the name Jack Wilborn Motor Co. In the late 40's Ward opened his own lot on the SE corner of Belknap and Henderson. Jack Wilborn talked him into coming back into business with him in the early 50s.In the late 50s, Jack after having met Priscilla Baker, broke the company. He presented Ward with a buy or sale offer. Ward sold his interest that had been worth 75 - 100K before Jack went on a spending spree, for 9K. Ward opened a lot on Belknap St. along with Earl. During the tenure of this venture, Ward turned down an offer from Toyota Corp. to open the first new car dealership in Tarrant County. By the time Earl got back from Dallas buying some cars and found out about the offer, the officials had already signed an agreement with another dealer, A. T. Lowrey, down the street from Wards lot. Ward went broke later that year and moved back with Jack Wilborn on Main St. address. Ward a couple of years later moved to 808 North Main St. and opened a lot of his own again. After a couple of years at this address in the late 60s and early 70s, he was affored the opportunity to buy the lot at 2021 N. Main that Jack had owned for years, and had forfeited it to his first wife, Shirley. Ward stayed at that address until he retired January 1, 1984. He did not live long enough to enjoy any part of retirement. He suffered a massive heart attack on Feb. 4, 1984 and died.
