When I visited my Grandmother Dugan as a yougster, she would sit meonher lap and we woul d t alk for a long time about the things I did andthiswas very pleasant memory for me. I woul d s ee her almost every daybecauseat 8 yrs. old I was delivering newspapers and that was my l as tstop. Shecould charm me into a good mood when I was in a grumpy mood andwhen shemad e m e a cup of chocolate in the winter to warm me up it alsowarmed upmy feelings too. She wa s w as most pleased when I told her ofthe girls Iliked especially Eileen Phelan who she sai d a t the time couldbe aserious romance because I stopped taking about any other girl. Howco ul dshe know that when I was only 8.? Sure enough, that's who I latermarriedat age 20 . Lat e r in the 1950's it was great when my sisterEileencame bye at the same time and we sat aro u nd talking to Gram aboutourlives and the funny things that we did together when we were a l lkidsgrowing up. Gram would just love to see our yougsters and she wouldsayit reminded h e r of her childhood and the fun she enjoyed. When gramdiedin1952 it was hard on Eileen who w a s very close to her and Irealizedthen that she and Gram had shared very simular type person allities and afriendlyness that was so much of a part of their lives. Inever forgotthat mom e nt and it is heart warming to remember them boththat way. --Earl Jr.
