Memories When I visited my Grandmother Dugan as a yougster, she would sit me on her lap and we would talk for a long time about the things I did and this was very pleasant memory for me. I would see her almost every day because at 8 yrs. old I was delivering newspapers and that was my last stop. She could charm me into a good mood when I was in a grumpy mood and when she made me a cup of chocolate in the winter to warm me up it also warmed up my feelings too. She was was most pleased when I told her of the girls I liked especially Eileen Phelan who she said at the time could be a serious romance because I stopped taking about any other girl. How could she know that when I was only 8.? Sure enough, that's who I later married at age 20 . Later in the 1950's it was great when my sister Eileen came bye at the same time and we sat around talking to Gram about our lives and the funny things that we did together when we were all kids growing up. Gram would just love to see our yougsters and she would say it reminded her of her childhood and the fun she enjoyed. When gram died in1956 it was hard on Eileen who was very close to her and I realized then that she and Gram had shared very simular type personallities and a friendlyness that was so much of a part of their lives. I never forgot that moment and it is heart warming to remember them both that way. -- Earl Jr.
