Gordan E Proper, 64, died of a heart attack Friday evening , Dec. 10, wile driving his car in this village.
For many years he worked in the Granite industry and at the hospitals. He was for a time employed by the Holcomb Funeral Home. A veteran of the Navy in WW2. He married Nellie M. Sheldon on June 14, 1925 in Holyoke, Mass. He was born may 6, 1907 in Sheldon, VT. Besides his wife , he leaves a daughter, Mrs Vera Judkins of Harwick; three sons, Gordan E Proper Jr.,Robert Proper, Both of Harwick, and Earnest Proper of the US Air force in Texas; a sister, Mrs Wilma Revoir of ST Albans; nine grand children, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at he Holcomb Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 13, 1967 at 3 PM with the Rev James Potter Officiating. Interment will be in the family lot in Fairview Cemetary.

Harwick is a quaint New England town tucked away in the rolling hills and valleys that I travled to get there on RT 2 & 15 that took us into Main St. with its country stores and restuarant. In the town hall and the local Newspaper where we did some research on the Proper familily, the people were very friendly and helpfull and that left us with a warm feeling about the people and families that live here. Little did I know that Vera lived on Main ST and we had passed her home as we left the area to return home. Our drive took us back throught the hillside that was covered with snow and the pine trees branches were filled with snow and bending down. Just visiting here was worth adding the time to our long ride back to the shores of Milford,CT.
